Seth and Corrie stepped into the elevator. Training started today. The two of them were dressed in matching outfits, tight grey shirts with black pants and thin metal buckles over their shoulders. Their mentor had told them to take their accessories off before they left their suite, so Corrie’s scarf was absent, but Seth had refused, so he still had his necklace and piercings. This whole dumbass thing had practically killed him already, he at least wanted to go out in style.

The ride down seemed to last forever. Corrie’s palms were sweating. She’d never done well with anything involving athletics, she was scared of messing up terribly and being seen as an easy target by the other tributes. She couldn’t seem to keep herself still, little jolts kept buzzing up her arms and neck, making her twitch. Anxiety was really setting in.

DING~

They’d arrived. Seth was quick to walk inside, scanning the room. He may or may not have been a little bit excited to see Duncan, the male tribute from District 7. Pretty much the hottest dude in the world. Corrie was a little more hesitant, and almost got caught in the closing doors as she padded out.

“Corrie!” Someone called.

Corrie looked around and spotted Leo and Marigold waving at her from what looked like an archery station. She’d almost forgotten about them! They were the closest thing she had to friends around here, so she wasn’t going to waste an opportunity to train with them.

“Hi,” she purred, jogging over to them.

“Alright, a 12 decides to train with the 6’s,” Marigold chuckled.

“We’re just shooting some arrows. Pick up a bow and let’s get started,” Leo meowed with a smile.

Corrie nodded. She picked up a bow and a couple arrows, and the 3 of them started firing at a target about 30 feet away. Marigold really had the hang of it, Leo was getting there, and Corrie kinda… well, she pretty much sucked.

Once she had positioned herself wrong and went tumbling backwards as she loosed the arrow. She squeezed her eyes shut, expecting her head to slam against the floor, but instead she felt a strong arm wrap around her waist. Then she was pulled against a warm body. She felt her skin burn pleasantly and butterflies flutter in the pit of her stomach.

“Y-You okay?”

She looked up to see Leo’s blushing face, his dark green eyes gleaming.

“Yeah, I’m alright. Thanks,” Corrie purred, snuggling further into his chest before pulling away and picking up her bow. Her cheeks were on fire, as were Leo’s. Marigold tried to hold in her laughter at them.

Seth watched Corrie scamper off to the District 6 tributes before heading off to find either a station he could do well at or Duncan. Luckily for him, he happened to find both. He had come to a station with climbing ropes and a few sets of monkey bars. Duncan was crossing the monkey bars- looking sexy as hell in his training clothes with his muscles exposed and hot sweat dripping down his face.

It wasn’t long before Duncan’s glistening red eyes found Seth, and he jumped to the ground.

“Look who decided to show up,” He snickered, crossing his arms as he came towards Seth.

“Thought you might be lonely without me,” Seth replied, mimicking Duncan’s sassy tone.

“We can’t have that, can we?” Duncan looked down at him. He was only a few inches away from the younger male by now.

“Nope,” Seth chuckled.

Neither of them could say anything else before they were both pushed back as someone cut between them. Seth looked at the guy; he was taller, and probably older, than both of them. His fur was short and bronze-coloured, with darker tones around his back and lighter ones on his underbelly. Seth could only catch a glimpse of his eyes, which were vibrant green.

“Either of you bitches gonna do any work? Or are you just gonna stand around getting hot and bothered about each other?” His voice was harsh and cut like a knife.
“Who the fuck are you?” Duncan growled quietly, stepping back.

“Craven. From 2.” The career grinned.

“Alright, well get off our cases, Craven. I’m gonna do some training,” Seth sighed and pushed past him, heading towards the monkey bars. Craven snorted at them and strode off.

Duncan spat in Craven’s direction before turning to look at Seth. The tribute had leaped upwards and managed to grip the first bar. Duncan licked his lips, watching Seth swing and latch to the next bar and the bar after that, his tight shirt clinging to his torso. He was really damn hot.

When Seth jumped down, he groaned, “That was way too much work. I’m done for today.”

“Lazy-ass,” Duncan shoved him playfully, the two of them starting to wander side by side.

“Shut up,” Seth smirked, his cheeks dusting light pink.

“Ha, fine,” Duncan smiled. “So, just to be clear, we’re a team, right? Allies?”

Seth nodded, “Yeah, we are. I wouldn’t wanna team up with anybody else.”

“Good. I promise I’ll look out for you in the arena,” Duncan said softly.

“Th-thanks,” Seth’s cheeks flushed even more.

BRAMP~ BRAMP~ BRAMP~

A foul-sounding bell rang over the speakers. Training was over for today.

“Well, see ya tomorrow,” Duncan sighed. Before he turned and left, he leaned down and gently pressed his lips to Seth’s blazing cheek. Seth nearly passed out. Jesus fucking Christ.

It took him a minute to gather enough strength and balance to walk towards the elevator where Corrie was waiting for him. Even then, he was still lost in his daze. Did Duncan really kiss him on the cheek? Holy shit. Corrie noticed Seth’s hazed and moony state, and she couldn’t help but giggle at him. It was adorable. The elevator doors soon opened and they stepped inside.

13 days left until the games begun.
